Common Improvements

Below are common improvements associated with a GreenOver...

  • Sealed crawl space-Retains conditioned air from home and HVAC system while reducing moisture and ambient air infiltration.
  • Increased attic insulation with optional radiant and air barrier-Adds an additional R16.8 while also making your existing insulation work better, stopping air flow from your home's ceiling and reflecting radiant heat out of your home, which is the greatest source of heat gain. Radiant barriers also reflect radiant heat into the home, helping it stay warmer in the winter.
  • Hot water lines and insulated or upgraded water heater-Minimizes heat loss and decreases the amount of time it takes to get hot water.
  • Programmable thermostat installed and programmed-Keeps house at a comfortable temperature while helping you save on heating and cooling costs.
  • Duct and HVAC sealing and tune-up-Duct sealing keeps the conditioned air in place while keeping harmful and often unhealthy air out of the duct system and house. An HVAC tune up includes optimizing burners for maximum efficiency, checking A/C line charge and cleaning A/C coils so they can transfer the most heat efficiently.
  • Building envelope air sealing and rigid backing-Keeping conditioned air in your home means greater comfort and lower bills. Air sealing keeps unhealthy and moist air out of your home, which alleviates many expensive and difficult problems. Rigid backing around insulation stops air movement from impeding the performance of insulation. Your home's insulation needs to be completely encapsulated on all six sides by an air barrier to work at maximum efficiency.
  • Rainwater harvesting system-Rain barrels and cisterns can be used for irrigation, toilet flushing and all other water needs. Proper installation of a rain water system can provide an abundant amount of water for irrigation and unsurpassed water quality for health and vitality.
  • Composting system-Much of a home's waste is still valuable for your soil. Divert that rich carbon from paper and food scraps into fuel for your soil.
  • Bath and kitchen fans, proper ventilation strategy-Moisture and odors are generated indoors and need to be exhausted to the exterior. A home with high flow, properly-ducted kitchen and bath exhaust fans is much healthier, cleaner and more comfortable.
  • Efficient lighting and lighting controls-Fluorescent and LED lighting is three times more efficient than traditional incandescent lighting. Bulbs also last much longer and can provide better lighting. Automation of lighting maximizes safety, comfort, cost and energy savings.
  • High Efficiency toilet and plumbing upgrades-Minimizing water use saves water and a great deal of the energy used to heat the water.
